OUR BEGINNINGS WERE HUMBLE
LJ Studios is run by Sound Engineer Lucy Mitchell. She and her husband Phil (see below!) recently bought their first home in Worcester Park and wanted to build a studio in the garden in order to use all their bedrooms as actual bedrooms. However, this would be a huge amount of money just to work in a different space, especially as they can often do their editing or click track work with headphones! The only way to justify the cost of the build would be to guarantee that the studio would in fact increase their income.
She then came up with the idea of Voice Over Reels (and subsequently professional Voice Over sessions) largely due to her friendship with renowned Voice Over artist Ciara Janson, who had mentioned that she had recently helped a friend's brother with his first Voice Reel. Having gone freelance just over 3 years previously, Lucy missed doing Voice Over sessions immensely and was very excited get recording.
Lucy had also been approached by a few different clients over the previous years enquiring about foley recording, which she obviously couldn't do to a broadcast-able standard in her bedroom-studio. Foley is an area that she absolutely loves, so building the facility to record in house will hopefully mean she will do more of it and satisfy that itch!
The idea of expanding her available services was very appealing, and the idea of potentially growing a business over the next however-many years was such an exciting prospect that LJ Studios was then born! She hired professional Studio Designer and Acoustics Specialist Howard Turner from Studio Wizard to design the building, its sound proofing within the structure, acoustic treatment and placement of speakers and panels. His bespoke design has created a perfectly calibrated, air tight, soundproofed space perfect for recording and mixing to broadcast standard. This ensures the highest quality of work to deliver to clients.
LJ Studios can cover all of your Audio Post Production needs, including Music Composition, with a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills, all at an affordable price. You will get Soho talent without the Soho Facility overheads. Costs will be discussed with Lucy on a project by project basis. We aim to give you the best quality of work, within your budget.

LUCY MITCHELL
COMPANY DIRECTOR - SOUND EDITOR - DUBBING MIXER - MUSIC MIXER
Lucy has worked in the post production industry for over 10 years and has a vast amount experience and skills spanning many areas of post production for TV, Film, Animation and Computer Games. Lucy is a writer for renowned audio industry website Protools Expert, has both chaired and been part of panel discussions at BVE and The Media Production Show, and is a guest lecturer and workshop leader at multiple Universities and 6th Form Colleges. she started her career at Envy Post Production as a runner, learnt on the job and worked her way up the ladder old-school style; moving through the machine room as an audio assistant, head of machine room, tracklayer, voice over recordist and junior mixer. She went freelance in 2015 and has spread her wings vernturing into different genres for a multitude of clients both in the UK and overseas. Her credits include Eastenders, Death in Paradise, Top Gear and Thomas Friends. She will oversee all jobs that come through the studio, including the music department, and will put together the best team for the job on every project.
Lucy is the only staff member. The rest of the team are freelancers and are subject to availability. Should we all be fully booked for your requested dates, we will endeavour to supply you with other trusted freelancers, agreed by you, with their work overseen by Lucy or Phil, dependant on the department.
PHIL MITCHELL
MUSICAL DIRECTOR - CHORAL ARRANGER - TRANSCRIBER - ORCHESTRATOR - COPYIST
Phil is a Music Director, Arranger, Accompanist, Copyist, Teacher and all round Music Maestro, with 10 years of professional experience under his belt. He is the Musical Director of Christmas No.1 holders The Lewisham and Greenwhich NHS Choir, and popular London Show Choir The Adam Street Singers. He has MD'd am-dram Musicals and Bath;s Annual Pantomime, regularly plays for drama school shows and musicals, and he made his West End debut 18months ago depping for Keys 2 in Strictly Balroom. He will oversee all music projects from start to finish, ensuring delivery of the highest professional standard.
CIARA JANSONVOICE OVER DIRECTOR
Ciara has been doing voice overs since the tender age of 5. You can hardly turn on the telly or radio without hearing her voice! You may recognise her voice from adverts for Venus, Samsung, Always, Pandora, Diet Coke and Nivea, E4 promos, 64 Zoo Lane, Barbie Movies, the Doctor's Daughter on Doctor Who Audio Books and many many more.

DEBBIE ARNOLDVOICE OVER DIRECTOR
Debbie is an accomplished actress and voice over artist with a career spanning over 30 years. As an actress she has appeared in many commercials, films, tv shows and theatre productions, including 7 roles in the West End. She has appeared as a recurring role in every British soap and her voice has been heard on hundreds of commercials. She also currently presents a chat show online called The Wonderbirds.

STEPHANIE TAYLORCOMPOSER
Stef achieved an undergraduate degree in music at Paul McCartney's LIPA, and earned a masters degree at the prestigious National Film and Television School.

MILES HANCOCKCOMPOSER - ORCHESTRAL ARRANGER
Miles studied Music and the University of Nottingham. He runs Big Band 'Jazz Colosus' and 'Symphonica' Orchestra which plays festivals all over the country with World Champion Turntable DJ Mr Switch.

MARY WALSHDUBBING MIXER - SOUND EDITOR (FACTUAL)
Mary also studied music at University She started her career at Blue Post Production as a runner and worked her way up to dubbing mixer, before moving to Envy Post production in 2006. In 2017 she took some time off to start a family, and has been freelancing for the last few years. Her mixing Credits include Top Gear, Grand Designs and The Voice UK.

ANNA SULLEYFOLEY MIXER - SOUND EFFECTS EDITOR
Anna covers all areas of sound editorial, including supervision, specializing in Sound Design, Fxs and Foley recording for Film,TV & Animation. She is also a experienced dialogue editor. She began her career in factual at 'Telecine' and Blue moving over to film/tv drama at Ascent’ in 2002, and later going freelance. With over 19 years solid experience, her credits include Shamed, Teletubbies and Snatch

Meltem is a Cymru Bafta Award Winning foley Artist. Her recent credits include Killing Eve, Sex Education and Doctor Who.

LOU BROWNFOLEY ARTIST
Louise has been working in post production sound for over a decade. Her strong love of Foley saw her pick up the shoes and she has since worked on over 30 features, plus documentary films and broadcasts. She began her career at Radium Audio making sound effects for advertising and corporate films, culminating in a BIMA award for sound in 2009. The following year she joined London's post production house Creativity Media as a Foley editor and Foley artist, contributing Foley to 2016’s Bafta winning short film Operator. In recent years Louise has been working with studios around London, throughout the UK, and further afield!
